Bishop Guilfoyle graduated senior Alex Sadler was named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class AA Finest Forty All-State Volleyball team.
Alex is the first Bishop Guilfoyle boys' volleyball player to be named all-state since Victor Mastalski (Class of '96) in 1996. He was a three-time District 6 and Mid-State Boys' Volleyball League all-star. Alex led BG in kills with 180, including a career-high 28 against DuBois, and he recorded seven double-doubles. "Alex is a special talent and very deserving of this honor," Bishop Guilfoyle coach Bob Kasun said. "We relied on him heavily for offense, passing, defense and leadership on the court. He had the ability to help our team in so many ways."
BG reached the District 6 championship match the past four years. Alex will continue playing volleyball in college at Division I Saint Francis this fall. "I think Alex's best volleyball days are ahead of him at Saint Francis," Kasun said. "The Division I competition and the skilled coaches at SFU will bring out the best in him. He has tremendous upside. We are thankful for his great contributions to the BG program and wish him the best at Saint Francis."
