Eco Club

One of our God-given responsibilities is to care for the Earth. The newly established Eco Club at Bishop Guilfoyle is committed to helping the environment through acts of stewardship. The club writes and produces a short educational documentary each week that is shown at student lunches. As well, the club has several committees - the Recycling Committee, the Go Green Committee, the Paper Collection Committee, the Bottle Cap Committee and the Planter Committee. Each of these committees does something different to better Bishop Guilfoyle. The Recycling Committee aims to reduce waste here at BG. The Go Green Committee looks for ways for the school to become more environmentally responsible. The Paper Collection Committee educates teachers and students on how to minimize paper use and how to maximize paper recycling in the classroom. The Bottle Cap Committee collects bottle caps, which are all recycled differently. And, the Planter Committee maintains the vegetation in the front hall planter, creating an appealing entrance for visitors to the school.

On Earth Day, the Eco Club brings in students from the local elementary schools and teaches them about the environment. Students learn to be more environmentally responsible through fun games and activities.

Are you concerned about the environment? See Mrs. Baker to join this club and to show that you care!
