Bishop Guilfoyle High School's summer reading program objective is to promote reading as a form of self-enrichment and entertainment. At the end of their high school career, graduates will have read an impressive portfolio of books.
Students are required to read the book(s) designated for their grade level and choose one of the optional books from the grade appropriate list. Students enrolled in AP/Hon English 3 must read both required books listed on the English 3 list and one optional book. Students enrolled in AP/Hon English 4 may only choose from the AP/Hon English 4 list.
Although these books are considered appropriate for your son/daughter's age group, some parents may not permit their child to read certain books. Parents are asked to oversee their child's book choice.
Requirements for application and assessment will be distributed at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.
Our hope is to make the summer reading enjoyable for the student and not burdensome. Any questions about the summer reading program may be directed to Mrs. Fogle, Mrs. LaBorde, or Mrs. Yingling of the English Department.
